What is Ocular Ultrasound?
Ocular ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging test that allows your doctor to see the internal structures of the eye when they cannot be examined directly. It uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed images of the eye and orbit.
This test is especially useful when the view of the retina is blocked by conditions such as cataracts, corneal opacities, or vitreous hemorrhage.
Why is it needed?
Ocular ultrasound helps diagnose and evaluate conditions such as:
Retinal detachment
Vitreous hemorrhage
Intraocular tumors or masses
Foreign bodies inside the eye
Eye trauma
Measurement of eye length before surgery
